Affliate Selling

Being an Affiliate

Everywhere you go online you will find websites asking you to be their affiliate. They all promise big dollars but you need to find the right companies that will work for you. It takes reading a few of these to really understand what an affiliate is - and probably a few more to decide if it's worth a shot for you.

Being an affiliate is the same as being a traditional salesperson working for commission. As an affiliate, you sell other people's products to as many customers as you can find and in return, you get a percentage of the sales.

Where a salesperson usually sells for one company an affiliate can work for work for as many as they choose. This is done on the net usually and at little or no cost to start. You can do this fulltime or part time keeping your main job.

The system works this way. A client is drawn to your website by advertising of one time or another and they will follow a link to an affiliate site or product. The link has a code which tells the affiliate site that the customer came from you. Each sale is tracked back to you and you get the commission.

There are different ways that companies can reward you. You may get rewarded for driving customers to the site, from them making a sale, signing up for something, or some other desired outcome.

You have to sign up with a company and they will investigate whether they want you as an affiliate. If they decide they do then the necessary link information is given to you and you sign up with your details and payment options.

There are many many affiliate programs out there. You need to investigate and find the ones that you feel comfortable with and can work with.

It is not hard to be an affiliate, but making a lot of money out of affiliate programs will take work and time. For those less motivated, offering a few affiliate products on their own business web site is an effective way of serving customers and making a little extra money.
